The Master of Science degree program in statistics is intended to provide training for a professional career, principally in applied statistics. Toward this end, students with degrees other than in mathematics, as well as mathematics majors, are encouraged to apply for admission.
A candidate for the M.S. Degree must complete a minimum of 30 hours graduate work which must include the following: STAT 4023 or 4033, 5103, 5113, 5313, 5353, 5363, and 6103, in addition to MATH 4363, 5613, and 5823. CSCI 1024, MATH 3083, and MATH 4513 or 3423 (or their equivalent) are prerequisites to the program and otherwise will be considered as deficiencies. A suggested outline of course work may be obtained from the Chairman of Studies.
