About the Department
The department of Mathematical Sciences is one of nineteen departments in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Arkansas, located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, one of the fastest growing and most livable areas of the U.S.
With twenty-four faculty members, about ten instructors, more than fifty graduate students and one hundred and fifty majors, the Department of Mathematical Sciences plays a central role in the education, research and service mission of the University of Arkansas.
Our department offers bachelors', masters', and doctoral degrees. We have an active undergraduate program that offers a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. We collaborates with the Sam Walton College of Business to offer the Mathematical Bachelor of Science Degree with an informal concentration in actuarial studies. We are proud to offer an informal and collegial atmosphere, with active student organizations. Our daily tea-time is a popular get-together for faculty, graduate students and majors alike.
Through a number of dedicated activities we strive to support pre-service and in-service K-12 mathematics teachers in their continued professional growth.
April is Math Month, featuring our long-running Spring Lecture Series, our Alumni and Majors picnic, public lectures for the community at large and other events.
These accomplishments underscore our commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service to the State of Arkansas.
