Academics
Undergraduate Program
Our department's goal is to educate and prepare Undergraduate students in the fields of mathematics - both pure and applied - with an additional focus on statistics. We also offer a minor program in mathematics which may prove useful in broadening the applications and understanding of other major fields.
New and perspective students are encouraged to review our Math Placement Page for the prerequisite criteria we use MATH and STAT course enrollment.
Undergraduate Student InformationGraduate Program
Whether enrolling in our Masters or Ph.D. programs, our department strives to prepare Graduate students for future prospects in industry, education, and beyond. Those who are employeed under a Graduate Assistantship also play a vital roles in teaching, tutoring, and proctoring within our department.
Our degree programs offer concentrations in Mathematics and Statistics, but Masters students are also welcome to look into the interdisciplinary Statistics and Analytics (STAN) program.
Future Teachers
For Undergraduate and Graduate students interested in teaching with a speciality in Mathematics, the College of Education and Health Professions hosts a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education certification program.
Academic Services
Our Department's Tutoring and Testing Center in Champions Hall is available for current students enrolled in our MATH and STAT courses; examinations related to those classes are administered in the adjacent Testing Center. Students may utilize either center free-of-charge and without appointment during operational hours, but a University ID is required for admittance into the Testing Center (replacement cards are available from the Campus Card Office in the Union).
Need Additional Assistance?
We ask students to reach out to their faculty instructors by email to schedule visits during office hours. Students who need assistance with adding or dropping MATH and STAT classes should reach out to mathover@uark.edu with their student ID number included. For general concerns, email math@uark.edu.
