Degree Requirements
Math majors can choose from a variety of degree options including Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Science
Applied - prepares students for applied work in mathematics or graduate work in some other field.
Pure - provides a broad mathematics background and foundation for study in mathematics at the graduate level.
Statistics - emphasizes statistics or plans to study statistics at the graduate level.

Writing Requirement
All mathematics majors must satisfy the writing requirement by writing a paper based on the student’s research of a mathematical topic under the direction of a faculty member, typically carried out in MATH 4933.
An honors paper or senior thesis will satisfy this requirement. The student should consult his or her adviser for details.
